These words sum up the past week very well.

Busy. sick. emo. confused. frustrated and longing.

Sounds like a very bad week, huh? hahaa.. actually it wasn't that bad, but it was a rather tough week nonetheless. However, slowly recovering from it.

Don't get me wrong though, I had a great time with my family in Melaka. So that's at least one thing that happened right this week :)

Will update more when I have gathered my thoughts.

I think this song is so fitting for this week's sermon topic "God want's you back!" Often, we heard God's call, but we are afraid, or unwilling, and we try to run away from what he wants us to do. But this week, I've been reminded once again (both by the sermon and the song) that where ever we run to, God will still be with us, and the amazing thing is, He still wants us back!! He's willing to give us another chance, as long as we just return to him.

Yes, indeed God, I can't get away from You. Help me to stop running away from you, and start running towards you instead. Amen.

Stop Child Abuse

Child Abuse

It's an ugly thing. And the worst thing is, it's more common than we all think.

I'm not talking about physical or sexual abuse either. Sure, those things are definitely happening. But what is more common and in some cases more deadly is something that looks much more harmless on the surface. What I'm talking about, is Emotional Abuse.

Emotional abuse is a prototype of actions that attacks a child's emotional development. It includes steady criticizing; belittling, insulting, rejecting and teasing are some of the forms these oral attacks can take.

I myself used to be very impatient with children who couldn't control themselves (forgetting that I was once such a kid) And as a consequence, I would scold them harshly if they did something that annoyed me. I have since learned, however, that this is a very very bad thing to do. I mean, children definitely should be disciplined when they do something wrong, but we really have to see the circumstances, and see if we can teach through a positive way rather than scolding in harsh words.

I remember the example on one of Bill Gothards Basic Life Principles sessions about a young boy who plucked some prized flowers from the garden to give to his mother. All he wanted was to show his love for his mother. And what did his mother do? Instead of thanking the boy and maybe just telling him in a good way not to do it again, she gave him a slap and scolded him in a big way. No surprise that he never did another thing like that for her again. I hope she went to an old folks home after that. She deserves it.

So yeah, I would like to see this sort of abuse stopped. And everyone, including you guys who are reading this post, can get involved by joining up and supporting UNICEF, a group dedicated to making children's lives better. Their motto says it best:

Immediately I began to feel it's effects, it was intoxicating, consuming

me from within, a sudden desire to try out this pizza with 6 cheese on it. That's right, six cheeses: Parmesan, Mozzarella, Romano, Cheddar, Provolone and Monterey Jack! So without thinking, I posted on my facebook wall :

God's Protection

Dear Readers,

Yesterday on my way to Sunway to meet Tim and the gang I almost had an accident on the road. Well, the fact is, I did have an accident, but not nearly as bad as it could have been, if not for God's protection over me.

So what happened was it was raining, and I was just driving a long like normal. I wasn't speeding or even tail gating, but as I turned along the highway, the car in front of me suddenly braked. I tried to brake as well, and my car promptly went out of control.

It was quite scary, I tell you. I remember desperately trying to decide what to do. The car in front of me was getting closer and closer and on my left side was the rest of the highway with cars passing by. On my right side, however, was the road divider. So in the end, I decided to scrape my car against the divider rather than hit the car in front. Just at the last moment, however, I managed to slow down and to cut a long story short, I emerged with just a scratch... on my car... nothing really to worry about.

A lesson to all. Remember not to drive fast or tail gate, whether it is raining or not. Just stay within the speed limit, and you'll be much safer. Especially don't tailgate coz not only is it dangerous, it's also pretty annoying as well.

It got me thinking, though. Like, anything could have happened. And there would have been nothing much I could do about it. It just goes to show how fragile and brief our lives can be. And how God is always watching over us.

Thank you God for your protection.

p.s. On the bright side, though, I now have another idea for the MUFORS short film competition.

Final Year Script

I wish I wasn't such a so-called perfectionist when it comes to my scriptwriting. I mean, a script can't be perfect right? And with so little time, I don't understand how I can't just settle for one story and then go all out writing it. No, I have to think about it too much, get stuck, then realize I can't continue and change to a completely NEW story and start all over again. Brilliant, Sam, brilliant..

Aaaanyway, I suppose I just have got to pull up my socks and try to salvage this. So here I am, blogging.. This really helps my scriptwriting.. alot..

I don't even know why I uploaded this post. I'm becoming incoherent. I'd better sign off now.

I'm prepping myself for a major project. One that may or may not be successful, largely depending on the feelings of another person. It's strange, wanting to do something perfectly and yet knowing that it won't be perfect, and trying to do it anyway with a constant urge to give up.

Hard to understand? As I said, it's weird.

And yet, if by some divine intervention it does succeed beyond my wildest dreams, it will be a story to tell for a long time to come. So, do it I must. Even if I have to risk it all in yet another one of my signature foolish moves. I will.

Nuffnang Glitterati Plus + 100 posts

Well guys, no witty title for you today.. it's gonna be straightforward and simple.

Two things of note happened today. First of all, today at 10:00am, Nuffnang Malaysia Glitterati Plus' first open meeting was held. Quite a few bloggers attended, and the meeting was a success IMO. We got to learn a bit about Glitterati Plus and what it is all about.

Very excited to hear what they've got planned, and even better, next time the members (of which I hope to be one) will be given the opportunity to plan and suggest some of the events as well !! From outings to futsal to charity work, it's all out there waiting for us!!

And as if that's not good enough, there's even a bunch of cool parties, awesome competitions and 1-week-before-premiere press screenings of movies thrown in for those lucky Nuffnangers who are members of G+!! So hurry up, find out more!!

Another lesson on Faithfulness

This week, has been a rough one..

It started out fine, had a good weekend. Monday evening's recording with Tim Lim went well.. It was fun to hang out, have dinner and then do a little video stuff, so it was all good.

Then things started to go downhill. Firstly, I changed my script for BMW shorties LAST MINUTE. I know, i'm such an ass.. (OMG sam you used 'ass', .. well, deal with it) It's one of my most annoying freaking weaknesses I'm NEVER satisfied with the script that I'm working on. And I mean not only not satisfied with the flow/scene/dialogue but I have to go and change the ENTIRE story every time. It's so stupid. I've wasted so much time because of this. Anyway, hopefully I'll learn my lesson this time? I don't think so... :)

Ok then on weds when I had shot some footage to edit.. Brought my camera to the computer, and guess what.. it doesn't work !! ArggghhH!! Somehow, for some reason, I just could not transfer the clips!!

I tried everything, even read a bunch of forums about the usual problems, and tried all their suggestions, to no avail. Wow, after that I totally had no mood to join BMW shorties anymore.. it was just depressing.. So in the end I just spent the night preparing for presentations the next day.

Thursday's presentations went quite well I guess. I mean, considering the amount of time we spent on them, we did quite alright.. Presented about Romance in Media and also Digi!! The Digi one was funny coz we only prepared for it like 10 mins before we actually presented.. seriously... Anyway after school, tried to fix my camera again.. couldn't fix it...

Well, cell group time. I decided to just forget about the competition and just go for cell group. A wise decision. God spoke to me again during the cell group. You see, this week I had been missing out on devotions and also a lot of prayer time because of my busyness.. Well, had a refreshing cell group and then dinner. Arrived home tired but a little bit more cheered up:)

Today, we all skipped class coz none of us really wanted to go. In the afternoon, I had a surprisingly long talk with Deborah Ho, which cheered me up even more =D Annoying orange is awesome! and so are many other things..

And then, it was Starcraft time. I notice that I play a lot of Starcraft when I'm feeling very "sien". But hey, results show. I am now.. wait for it.. #1 on my bronze league!! Wooohoooo!! and here's a screenshot to prove it...

Oh YEAH!!! NoSenSei is dominating!!!

So yeah, I suppose this week was not a complete loss. Am preparing for my big project coming up soon. wish me luck ;)

Secret Recipe Madness!

Had a great time at secret recipe just now with some of my awesome friends from Limkokwing. We should do it more often, in my opinion. It was just non-stop laughter the whole time!!

And to add to the experience, we realized a couple of things while feasting on cake and cheese covered french fries. Firstly, each and every one of us is crazy in his/her own right. I don't know what the other customers thought about the lameness emanating from our table, but I do worry for their sanity, cause they were around our group for more than 5 minutes (a lethal dose in most cases!!)

Second of all, we realized that Facebook has become such an integral part of our lives that we have started to apply it's mechanics into our real lives. For example..

Seriously, it doesn't get any geekier than this. Can't wait for the next hang out! It's going to be Legen-I hope you're not lactose intolerant coz the next word is-dary!!

Moving up the Starcraft ladder.

Ok so for those of you who don't know, I actually have a BattleNet account.

Yeah, that means I'm playing Starcraft2 people!!

It's one of the best games in the world IMO.. and it's produced by Blizzard. And we all know that Blizzard ONLY produces the BEST games in the world. I mean, every game that I've been addicted to in the past has come from Blizzard: Diablo, Warcraft and Starcraft. What can I say, they're geniuses.

Well, I'm a total noob at Starcraft. I mean, the last time I played it was when Dacom was the ONLY? cybercafe in Tawau. So yeah, that pretty much says it all. There were 5 placement matches to begin with on the 1v1 league and I lost all of them. It put me in the bronze league (yes, you guessed it.. the lowest league, kinda like kindergarden) But after 43 games, I am now 4th in my league.. Hope to get to Silver League soon, and play with the big boys :)

My race is Zerg, coz they're the aliens who are just fighting to survive. And fight we will! Till every last Protoss and Terran SCUM are dealt with in the proper manner, which is DEATHHHH!!!

hahahaha... Zerg is a pretty complicated race, however, and it takes SOOOO much to macro up properly. I'm still completely incompetent when it comes to managing larva and injecting with queens and fast expanding.. gosh... enough to make you go spastic. (which, ironically, is exactly what you have to be to play Zerg. You need to be spastic, unpredictable, ready to react to whatever build your opponent throws at you).

So anyway, yeah, 4th place, and moving up. I'll post again when I'm #1 on the BRONZEEE.. stay tuned.

Not so long ago

In the midst of all the assignments on Sam's mind.. a blog post surfaced. And it stayed there, despite attempts to remove it forcibly...

Then, it started making demands.. "Post me up!" it said, or I will haunt you this night, and you'll be as productive as a toilet bowl that's been dropped in the ocean.. Scary words indeed.. and not to be taken lightly...

So here I am, blogging, when I should be studying..

And then a thought came to me.. I don't have to listen to this voice.. I can choose to blog whenever I want to.. and so, I waited.. and waited... and waited.. and I'm still waiting :)

Aww, ain't she a champ!!

For those of you who don't know, Sarah is actually my sister!! We've known each other for the past 19 years xD and what can I say, it's been good!

Ok so what do we know about Sarah?

She's:

cute, matured, organized, caring, HUNGRY, gorgeous, funny, loves to hang out, a chocoholic, an aggressive driver, scared of lizards, scared of mice, scared of anything that moves basically, a series watcher, a good cook, an even better teacher, a beginner surfer, a room service enjoyer, a tambourine dancer, and a leader.

But most important of all, she's the best sister any brother could ask for. And I think Andrew would agree with me on that one.

So now, on her 19th Birthday, I continue to pray that she will grow up to be a woman of noble character, who fears God and trusts him in every aspect of her life. I know you will, Sarah! And i'll always be there to watch over you (Cheh!) haha..

Anyway, Love you lots!! Missing you too.. Study well in England. You'll be teaching my kids next time, and I want them to learn from the best :)

Hello my little potatoes,

Here's my 2nd post for the night. It's about Child Abuse.

First of all, here's a little true/false exercise for you guys.. I got it from Nuffnang.

Take a quick look at the following statements regarding child abuse, and tell me which ones you think are true, and which ones are false:

1. It’s only abuse if there is physical violence involved.
2. Only bad people abuse. Good people don’t.
3. Many children do not know their abusers.
4. Abused children will definitely grow up to be abusers.

All of the above statements are in fact, false. How many did you get correct?

Yeah so, I took this exercise myself, and I got only two of them correct. Now that just goes to show how many misconceptions we have about child abuse. Most of us probably don't realize that it is much more common that we think. Even in 'good' families, child abuse exists, albeit in milder forms, but abuse nonetheless. And what's worse, the victims, children, cannot really defend themselves from such abuse.

As the victims often don’t have the voice to speak up for themselves, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is launching the ‘Get on Board’campaign to raise public awareness about the devastating effects of child abuse.

Lasting two months, the campaign rallies everybody with the call to ‘Raise your hand, Stop child abuse now!’ and aims to unite 100,000 Malaysians in time for the finale on Human Rights Day in December. That's what you would say to someone who keeps getting in your face.. the person who, despite your best efforts at shoo-ing him away, has time and time again been there to annoy you in every way imaginable. I am familiar with this phrase.. I have been on both ends of it.

Or maybe you just can't stand the person's face!! That happens quite often, let me tell you.

But often as not, the people who annoy us the most are sometimes the people that are closest to us. I don't want to write a post about someone I hate. Rather, I'll write a post about...

...

My Brother. :)

His name is Andrew, and he can be the most annoying person in the world sometimes!! (Andrew, if you're reading this, make sure you read till the very end, please, and not go off crying after you've seen the above sentence)

Anyway, why is he annoying? My gosh, when he eats all the Oreos and doesn't even leave a single one for me.. I remember it for years :P

And then there's his inability to live without air-conditioning... it's, appalling...

Oh oh and the fact that he's grown so much in the last few years.. now that's really annoying. I mean, look at this..

He looks like Conan now.. what with the hammer and all. I mean, I used to be able to own him in the face with my speed and agility. But now my punches don't take any effect. They just fall on his rock solid armor... Oh well, now i've moved the battle to the mind :) And I would own him there as well.. at least until he starts studying medicine.. :S

But hey, fighting and challenging him all these years has made both of us a little bit tougher than we would have been with no one to fight with. So, I think it's a good thing. Furthermore, nowadays that's how we communicate. We throw insults at each other for fun, but we know that we don't really mean what we say.

I mean, he's my brother right. I think he's cool now, much cooler than I was at his age. And so, one of the most annoying people is also one the most important to me now. AWWWWWWWWWWWW... well, I don't often say this, but I love you bro!!

Ok now with all that said and done. I have one more message for dear little andrewkins.. "I'm gonna pawn you in arm wrestling by the end of next year.. just you watch."

Well then, why did I write this post, you ask? Actually, there's a movie coming up called "You Again". So we can all go watch it and laugh to ourselves in the dark, completely able to relate to what is happening on the big screen. Well, those who get these special tickets from Nuffnang, anyway! :)

Well, as you can or cannot tell from the title, my day didn't go so well.. No, i'm not going to talk about it right now, but suffice to say I got frustrated with a whole lot of stuff..

Anyway, here's some facts about me in conjunction with the mood.

Hair fact #1: I get bad hair day everyday when my hair is long. That's why I like to keep it short.

Rain fact #1: I love it when it rains during bedtime, but when it rains just before you leave college and you didn't bring an unbrella, well, you get the picture...

Ok, so i've come up with this new idea to help me to blog every day. Everyday, trying my best, I will blog at least one random thing about myself. That way, even if I have nothing interesting to write about that day, all you readers can at least find out one or more interesting/downright bizarre thing that you may or may not know about me.

I'll improve the posts next time with maybe like a 365 photo project or something, but at the meantime, just random facts.

Here's a little story for you guys :)

I was out paying my bills at our Taman Equine Jusco yesterday. Yes, we pay all our bills at the post office there. Left the house with the bills in an envelope, looking like a noob~

Ok so I got there, and oh-emm-gee were there a lot of people there! I guess it's coz 31st of August is our National Day- and being a public holiday, it'll be impossible for you to pay bills then. Anyway, there was a multitude of little mortals queuing up to give money to the Government, and I was one of them.. i got a number from the machine : 1361. Current number : 1245. O.o yeah, long wait.

So i resigned myself to wait there for at least another hour. Luckily, I had brought my Cinematography book out so i had something to read.. but there were no free seats, so I had to stand. I read for about 5 mins and looked up : 1252.. Gosh...

All of a sudden though, this Uncle standing next to me tapped my shoulder and said, hey, i've got two numbers here, i'll give you one of mine. Of course, he said that in Cantonese, and although I knew what he was saying, I didn't know what to say back. When I finally did try to say something, I just proved what a noob I am at the chinese language. He asked me where I was from and do people speak Cantonese there. I was like.. *shoot me* haha.. Anyway, I told him i was from Sabah and that we speak Hakka there, and he started speaking Hakka. West Malaysian Hakka is a bit different from ours btw and though I did fairly better with Hakka than Cantonese I still sucked..

Anyway, enough of my noobness, so basically the number he gave me was 1261.. yeah, 100 places in front of mine. The thing is, he had been waiting there for more than an hour already, so, God knows why he took two numbers, but he offered one to me, and I took it.

So he was the number before mine, and we kinda ended up paying the bills at the same time. I thanked the kind sir and payed my bills.. when I had paid, I looked around for him again, and HE WAS GONE.

Now, I don't know for sure if they have Streamyx, TNB or Water bills up in heaven, but evidently they do. :) Thank you God for sending this dude and not letting me wait in Jusco till the year 3000.. Thanks!!

Final Year

Hey Guys,

So I'm back in KL, and as usual, i haven't posted as much as i would have liked. Reason being that I have been super busy this past semester break making promo(s) and videos for the All Saints' English Youth Cell. I'll upload some of them shortly so that you can have a look at just what I've been up to.

In the meantime, the new semester looks to be exciting with many new subjects, and what I can say is, this SEM is going to be much more practical based than the last with a lot of filming projects going up and heaps of competitions in the mix as well. Wish me luck guys as I am going to try out for some of them.

Keeping my fingers crossed :)

I've been so busy recently.. serious.

No time to do any blogging actually.. Well, it's not that there's absolutely no time, it's just that there's got to be a significant amount of time to build up the mood to blog, you know what i'm saying? haha..

Anyway, i'm about to go off to Tawau in 6 hours. Doing some video shooting of BSI and also SPAA. Gonna be a long (and hopefully fruitful) day.

P.S. Kinda emo at the moment. Something to do with babies. Only one person in the whole world knows what i'm talking about..

So I went to Guardian yesterday to try to get some Zyrtec for my allergic nose. And you know what the lady told me?

"Cannot, the pharmacist is not in"

I was like, well why don't you go and get him? (not saying it out loud, of course) What I actually said was:

"Could you sell me a pack please, it's for my nose"

And she said: "Get lost, your nose is none of my concern!!"... just kidding

She said: " No I cannot sell to you, this is a controlled drug"

Well usually when I buy Zyrtec I just ask for it and the pharmacist gives it to me. He doesn't do any checks or anything.. So I told her that, but she still insisted that I can't have any.. Sigh.. so I had trouble sleeping last night due to runny nose. What a pain.

To all Guardian Pharmacies, and pharmacies in general.. Please sell people medicine WHEN they NEED them.. not the next day when the customers walk in with bloodshot eyes.. Come on.. it's only Zyrtec..

“Why Smartphones can be Dumbphones”

This is a story about a dream I had, not too long ago.. A bizarre twist of fate, that may yet lead to something good, something deliciously evil.. We shall see..

This is my account of "The Tale of Dumbphones".

Chapter 1 : Enter The Darkness

I opened my eyes, and there I was..

I crept towards the ominous looking doorway at the far end of the warehouse, foreboding building as I reached the door. Experience told me that precious time could be wasted picking the lock before realizing that all that was totally unnecessary. I gave the handle a quick turn..

.. It wasn't locked.

I opened the door, and stepped inside. What would I find?

Scene 2: The Vault

I make my way down the sinister stairway

Deeper and deeper into the cryptic vault I ventured, a seemingly endless stretch of hallway before me. The whole scene would make one wonder what nefarious evil lurks within. Upon reaching the end, I steeled myself. This was where my destiny would unveiled itself. The question was: What manner of man would emerge from the other side?

It remained to be seen. Enter the devil's lair.

Scene 3: Chimera

Bursting into the "Lab" I came upon an odious scene. I was face to face with "The Scientist"

His instruments littered the dank, dark laboratory as he mentioned me closer.

Scientist

You have a question, boy, that is the reason you are here, no?

I want answers, Scientist. About Operation Dumbphones. What are you scheming?

Scene 4: Advent of Evil

Scientist

Do you really want to know? Could you handle the truth, boy?

Damn, I sure was tired of being called boy.

Just spill it, Scientist.

Scientist

Fine, you want to know why smartphones can be dumbphones? Simple, because I'll make them so!! Yes..

You? Hahahaha, don't make me laugh, Scientist. That's not possible. Smartphones are filled with all sorts of cool features, applications and whatnots. Surely there's nothing you can do.

Scientist

Oh, but there is.. there is.. You see, it's not the smartphones that i'll be making dumb, but the USERS instead, muahahahahaha

Arrgh!! Explain yourself

Scientist

Gladly. Sure, smartphones are full of features. But if everyone who owns a smartphone only uses about 20% of them, they won't be so smart, will they?

Not only that, I'll also increase the price of phone internet usage. I'll triple, no, quadruple the amount people have to pay. The world will be thrown into chaos, and the reign of smartphones will come to an end! Muahahahahahahahah!!

No way I'm gonna let that happen. I'm gonna stop you, Scientist.

Scientist

How are you going to stop me, boy. You're already in my trap.

NooOoOOooOo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scene 5: Awakening

I woke, sweat covering my body, soaking through my Spongebob Pajamas. I rushed to my computer, trying to find solace in the familiar WWW. It was then that I saw this.

Nuffnang, together with Digi, will be holding a costume party. The theme, Prisoners and Villains. All the vile villains in the world will be there. And so will The Scientist.

I must be there too. I'll disguise myself as a villain, infiltrate their ranks, and stop The Scientist from carrying out his evil plan.

Luckily for me, Team Nuffnang and Team Digi would be there as well. Things should go smoothly, but then, you can never be too sure when The Scientist is involved....

It's been a busy busy time indeed. Lots of stuff going on, such as assignments to catch up on. Hardly have time to read any blogs, let alone write them.. sighh... anyway.. just writing a bit here to let you all know that i'm still alive (if not actually kicking) Hope to change that soon..

Here's a video that we did for the "Life Enlivened" Album launch. It's a promo video, and the concept revolves around God being the Master Chef and we being the ingredients.

Hi guys,

It seems like an update is due (ain't it always =D)

Well, one week of study break has just passed. And I assure you, we did everything.. EXCEPT STUDY! In the meantime though, we've shot a short film, some promo videos and random stuff which will be uploaded here shortly for everyone's enjoyment. (did I just say, enjoyment?)

Assignments, on the other hand, are just beginning to get started - Very grudgingly, if I might add. However, all progress is good progress so everyone (and that means YOU) must applaud my efforts.

In fact, it's been raining the past few days.. Which makes me wonder, where has all the Sabah rain gone? Have they too, been tempted by RM0 fare tickets, a chance to travel to the West?

We made this to teach the youth how to make a good music video. I think we did quite well.

This video is actually a remake of another video that we found on the web. Pretty awesome stuff.

Chinese Alpha Training, Day 2, 3, and 4!

Sorry for not posting anything the last few days.. I was quite tired and not really in the mood to write anything :) haha.. another way of saying that I was lazy..

Not that I'm not tired now, but then, I've got to sacrifice a bit for you readers out there, right? ;)

Aaannnyway, the Chinese Alpha training is over and done. Overall, a 9/10, I would say! Everyone's like a family now and i'm sure many of the participants (me included) will be kinda sad when it ended. I've grown pretty used to waking up early (as if) and now going back to waking up late makes me sad :DDDD. haha..

Well, 2 more days in KK.. then back to KL..

Chinese Alpha Training, Day 1

Hi guys,

As some of you may already know, I'm back in my hometown Kota Kinabalu, doing some video shooting for the Chinese Alpha Training at BCCM Likas. Basically, I'm the cameraman, in charge of pointing the camera at the right place, and making sure to get good audio as well.

It's been a great learning experience so far. (and it's only the first day, too). Big thanks to Ben Randall and Mr.Lai Wei for giving me this opportunity and for showing me the ropes. It's truly a blessing to work with them :)

Things are proceeding smoothly so far (for the most part). I'll update a bit more tomorrow, coz i'm a bit tired right now.. Gotta get some sleep! Heehe..

Save your books

Guys, here's something I learned from Lifehacker today.

If you've ever dropped your books/papers into a puddle before, you'll know that wet paper can be very annoying, and very easily torn. You can't write on wet paper either, not to mention that some inks will run when contacted with water. How troublesome~

Anyway, here's a quick tip to save your drenched books.

Answer: Put them into the freezer!

Step one: You need a drenched book/document

Step two: Place said book/document into a plastic bag (NOT vacuum sealed, btw)

Step three: Put the bag (with the books) into a freezer. The dehydration process, which keeps things cold, will pull the excess water out of the paper.

Warning: It could take some time, even a week or so.. depending on the size of the book. Just tell your teacher the dog ate it..

Well.. maybe not hate them.. but I just kinda dislike them that's all..

By the way, something to do with cats happened yesterday night.. nothing much really.. just that a CAT JUMPED INTO MY ROOM AT 2 in the MORNING!

There I was.. very very innocently.. in my room. When all of a sudden I saw a flash of movement. It was dark so I couldn't see what exactly it was.. so I jumped up and flicked on the light.. and there it was.. a cat.. a FREAKING brown and white cat.. doing the spiderman thing on my wall.. I was like.. SHIATSU! so anyway.. I enlisted the help of Good ol' Jonathan Ma.. who proceeded to shoo the cat out of the window with a broomstick.. GO JON!!

Anyway the end result was CAT 0 - JON 1.

My room was full of cat hair.. it looked like a whirlwind had just passed through it.. a whirlwind of fur, that is..

We spent the next 10 mins coming up with a CAT horror story.. which caused me no small amount of sleep later on.. D*mn cats..

Yes people, i'm coming to the last few days of holidays, and believe me, it's a bunch of mixed feelings.

I've been feeling a bit weird lately, like life has less and less meaning. And it really IS weird coz nowadays I find myself getting busier and busier. So logically, there's supposed to be MORE meaning to my life as opposed to LESS meaning.. right?

WRONG!

Well, life goes up and down I guess.. Lately I've had a lot on my mind, and I guess it's quite a bit to process.. Suddenly you realize that about a quarter to a third of your life has passed you by.. Things aren't going to get easier from here on out.. In fact, the challenges will just keep increasing.. Hmmm.. can I handle it? I sure hope so..

What I'm really thankful for though is those people who stand by me in every situation.. There's quite a few so I won't name anyone here. Just letting you know that I appreciate you guys :)

Sigh.. mixed feelings.. but i'll bounce back.. I always do :)

An X-raygeous day

Guess what happened today (22nd February 2010)?

That's right, I had an X-Ray. It wasn't even planned. It just happened. haha.. Here's the story..

I accompanied Dave and Sam Lo to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. They were there for their check ups and physiotheraphy sessions (They both had leg injuries due to soccer). Anyway, after the doctor had checked them, before we left, I asked the doctor about my back. You see, it's been giving me trouble recently - Back pains, that sort of thing. Back when I was in primary school, I had a fall while playing in the playground. I injured my back then and I've had these pains ever since. Just that they seemed to be getting worse recently. Anyway, the doctor told me to get an X-ray done and come back another time with a referral letter from our family doctor. I'll update you guys more on this situation as it unfolds :)

Btw, the the doctor - Dr.Mariam George - was really funny. She's the inspiration for my production name "NoSensei" you know? But then, that's another story altogether...

Chinese New Year Blessings

Chinese New Year.

One of my favourite times of the year. For many reasons too (Not all of them red). By the way, this years Chinese New Year was one of the best ever!

What do I mean? Well, it was a record breaking year for one. Seriously, this year me, my brother and sister got the most Ang Pau's we've ever got in a year. Awesome! This is going into the bank.. gotta save, remember? :)

Had a surprise this year too. Tze Yee visited KK. By the way, this was her first time "sitting on the big metal bird" a.k.a Airplane. In other words, her first airplane trip. She did well though, managing to arrive in KK safe and sound.. haha.. She spent 4 days (17th-20th) here, generally following me everywhere I went. She even joined in Deborah Lo's birthday party on Saturday, just before she returned to KL. We had fun, but this was also a "serious" trip... Not going to go into details there.. Let's just say we had a long long talk about our relationship. Pray for us, yeah?

Anyway, chinese new year isn't over yet :) My last week in KK, gonna make it count!

Today's Theme: New Year Resolutions

Yes, I'm very late! OMG, it Feb, and all that sort of thing.. and yes, everyone's doing them, but, why not? Goals are important, as they give us something to look forward to. And the feeling of being able to check off things from a list of to-do's is not bad either :)

But seriously, Sam.. Chinese New Year is a tad late...

Anyway, getting to it..

New Year Resolutions, 2010.

1. To blog more

(WOW! He's said THAT before!) Yes, I know I'm always saying that. So I'll say it again! hehe.. I will (try to) blog more often this year. I've got a feeling this year's gonna be awesome. So, I'm getting into the mood of blogging starting from now. I've gotta start doing things that I've gotten lazy to do for a while (Well alright, a LONG time) . A boy called NARUTO inspired me. Yeah so, expect lots of interesting stuff this year, that's all I can say.

2. To film 10 short films (Of my own, not assignments) and join more competitions.

Indeed, I have been lazy in the past (and I still am, don't get me wrong) but I want to improve on this by doing something about it. People have asked me where are some of my works to show that I've been studying filming. So, here I am, making a resolution~ (It makes me feel better, ok?) BTW, I joined this Democracy Video Challenge, so wish me luck in that one!

3. To try 5 things I've never tried before

Sounds weird, right? Yeah I know. I don't have a list of said 5 things right now. But I'll update you when I do have them. Well, I have one so far, and thats...

1. Rock Climbing!

4. To gain weight.

Goal: 60kg. 'Nuff said.

5. To learn a new language

Japanese. I now have a program called Rosetta Stone! + Japanese Language pack. PURE OWNAGE! I'll be speaking like a sensei in no time.

6.To read the entire Bible in one year

I haven't yet read the entire Bible in 365 days. I'll give it my best this year!

7. To save money

Target: RM2000 at least.

8. To come up with a production name

My current favourite is "NoSenSei Productions" Anyone got a suggestion?

9. To refurbish this blog and also my desktop

Yes, there's some customization to be done.

and last, but not least..

10. To walk closer with God.

My spiritual side has been kind of dry lately. I've become rather cynical and pessimistic as a result. I'm not sure why, but what I do know is that something needs to be done about this.

I want to draw closer to you, God. Help me, in your name I pray, Amen.

The Original Story

East Asian Calligraphy, otherwise known as 書法 (shū fǎ) is an ancient art form. It is a tradition originating from China, where it was developed. The tale is told of the praying mantis, a devout insect, who fell into an ink pot. He managed to climb out, but then as he was rushing off to safety, he was stepped on by a man wearing big shoes. The dude who was responsible looked down, and behold! He saw that the squashed mantis, in his death, had assumed the a pose which greatly resembled the word 書. He had an epiphany, realizing that black ink -- or any coloured ink, for that matter -- could be used for writing. (before that, the chinese had been carving on stone, writing on wax, etc. All time consuming process) He pioneered this brush art form and named it after the word that the poor mantis's body had formed in his death throes!

The Real Story

Ahh, the fond memories of slogging through calligraphy lessons during our primary school. We were ~~tortured~~ taught how to master using a piece of horse-hair-stuck-on-a-stick to form characters, albeit not as gracefully as our teachers hoped. Here are a few examples of the phrases they would shout out to us as we toiled..

"Hold your brush straight"

"Follow the proper steps to write the words"

"Don't let me catch you using LAN DUO BI (lazy pen)"

Little did they know that their teachings would have a profoud (if not desirable) effect on some of their students, particularly those who attended the 2009 STS fundraising dinner this year. At the said dinner, there were some calligraphy pieces on display, selling for RM500 each. The ex-students couldn't wait but to give their expert opinion on the works of art.

Water consumption 101
Not Enough Water Water bathes cells and eliminates waste products, preventing constipation. These are the ways to boost your water consumption. These are ways to boost your water consumption

#Use a water filter
Drinking water can be contaminated with heavy metals, microorganisms, chlorine, fluoride, and other impurities.

You can improve the quality of drinking water by filtering with a reverse osmosis system, charcoal, ceramic, or other high quality filter.
Check bottled water—some types are not spring water but actually purified water from the same source as tap water.
Store water in glass containers. Avoid the plastic water bottles you find at the store. If you do drink water from a soft, clear water bottle, do not reuse it.
Avoid drinking distilled water regularly, because it can deplete your body of needed minerals.

#Meet intake guidlines
The U.S. National Research Council recommends 1 mL of water for every calorie you eat. So according to this guideline, a person who eats 2,000 calories should be drinking 2,000 mL. Other suggestions:

Fruit juice, soda, ice tea all have calories that add up.
Caffeinated beverages, such as coffee, tea, and green tea, count for ½.
More water is needed during exercise and in hot weather. A rough guideline—for every hour of exercise, drink an extra quart of water.

#Avoid drinking at night
People who don't make the time to drink fluids during the day sometimes try to make up for it in the evening, but this may result in waking up during the night to urinate and unrefreshing sleep. Avoid drinking at least two hours before bedtime.

#Drink warm or room temperature water
You wouldn’t water your plants with freezing cold water or put icy water into your pet’s water bowl, would you? In Traditional Chinese Medicine, cold drinks disrupt the proper flow of energy in the body and “shock” the body. Stick to warm or room temperature fluids.

What can I say, I've been busy...

Need I mention assignments? Practical? Audition? Transportation? And yet still, the greatest enemy is still myself .

For those who don't know, I have a big problem with procrastination. It means I love to put things off until the last minute [especially important things]. It has been the thorn in my side for as long as I can remember. It sometimes feels that I can't help it. Things just seem to pop up and distract me from the task at hand. Things that are very superficial, and yet, seem significant at that moment. Often, when I find myself running out of time, I realize that there are alot of things that I wasted my time doing, that took the place of the things that are meant to take priority in my life.

So, consequently, I have failed to blog every day of this month. But I see here not a failure, but an opportunity, to share with you something that I have read recently.

Failure is good for you! And here's why..

1. Every failure is an opportunity.

See each failure as an opportunity to do better. The very fact that you have a chance to improve is a blessing in disguise. Don't miss it!

2. Great people throughout history have ALL failed before.

Einstein: Called a retard by his teacher at school. Became Man of the Year, 20th Century.

Edison: Failed at least 1000 times to perfect the incandescent light bulb. Now, we all have lights.

Beethoven: His music teacher once said " as a composer, he is hopeless". Did I mention that he lost his hearing? and yet, he managed to produce great music. - a deaf man composing music, ironic isn't it!

3. The lessons we learn from failure help us to succeed.

We learn the most not from our successes, but from our failures. If we succeed in something, we'll most likely just repeat the same formula, expecting the same great results next time. But if we fail, we try harder to improve, and come up with something better. So in terms of how far forward we move, failure kicks success's butt!!

4. Success after failure is SWEET as.

I hope that my sharing has encouraged you in some way. I'm gonna try for NabloPloMo again next month. Stay with me, alright? Keep reading, and don't give up on me!! I'll succeed, and beat procrastination one day!!

Hi guys,

We interrupt "April Updates" with Breaking News!!

I’m talking, of course, about ITEL.

Intensive Training for Emerging Leaders (ITEL) - an FCC training program that I had the privilege of being a part of the last 4 days.

So, what is ITEL?

Basically, potential leaders (handpicked from the share groups) and all existing leaders gathered in FCC everyday for leadership training. It was run in a conference sort of style, with Rev. Khee Vun being the main speaker.

In a nutshell, I think ITEL was great! We got up early in the morning, made our way to church (Adele, Darren and I), and the rest of the day was one big learning experience. That’s how it was like for the last few days. I will spend the next few elaborating on some of the lessons we learned. Stay tuned for more updates..

Hey Guys,

As promised, updates on the "happenings" of April will begin from today onwards. So, without further ado, i bring to you :

Nuffnang Music Bash 2009!

Yes, remember the "I'm a Musicon Celebrity Thanks to Maxis Broadband" post that I wrote to gain the invite to the party? Well, apparently it was good enough, coz i GOT IN!! haha.. Not only that, I also didn't go home alone that night (if you get what i mean :P) For those who don't, read on to find out. (You can also click on the link above to view my entry post).

I would also like to thank Mau for being free enough to accompany me there :) haha.. It was fun (in a totally non-gayish way, I can assure you). He's been clubbing before so he pretty much was showing me the ropes. I'm kinda "kampung" in case you all didn't know.. Haven't been to a club before xD. Well, at least not one like this.

So yeah, first for some pics :

Went to Mau's house at 3pm. Got ready then headed towards Club Maison. That was around 4pm. Surprisingly, we hardly got lost on the way and we made it there almost 1 hour early.. So guess what, we just hung out in the car for the whole time till six.

This is the time we arrived!

We were parked just outside the Alpha Malaysia Building. So we gave Jonathan Tse a call. He wished us luck, after which we just sat in the car killing time. (I took some SS picks btw, an activity Mau was sporting enough to join in, albeit reluctantly). Here's the best one. (comparatively)

And now, ladies and gentlemen..

This was my first time attending such an event, so naturally I was quite excited to find out what it was all about. I'd heard of such parties before, but actually getting to be part of one? Never dreamed it would happen..

And yet, it did...

So there I was, with Mau, inside Club Maison. And the party was just getting started.. So first there were a few icebreaker games, led by Liang.

I remember him, he came to St.Patricks Church, Tawau, with the Oops Asia Team, years ago.

Anyway, he was the MC for that night. He did a very good job in stirring up the crowd, especially during games time. Of course, the prizes were very attractive as well. ( I mean, with Armani belts and Peak sunglasses up for grabs, people would do anything!)

Even imitate the dance in Beyonce's "Single Ladies" Music Video.

Next, we had a scrumptious buffet dinner. It was delicious, and it was FREE!! haha.. I had 3 helpings. What a pig!

After satisfying the inner man, we settled down to watch some performances by the people from Nuffnang.

Then came the prize giving.. and guess what.. I actually won something!!

The "Next Big Hit Blogger" Award goes to...

ME (in my Jason Mraz Impersonation)!! and her..

A Brand New 8GB iPod Touch! WoooHooOoo!! Just what I wanted. (Well, I did want the PS3, but someone else won it. Oh well, you can't have it all!).

So yeah, basically, that's what I meant when I said that I didn't go home alone that night. What were you all thinking? haha..

Well, that pretty much sums it up for the Nuffnang Music Bash. I'm now happily playing Tap Tap Revenge© on my iPod. Stay tuned for the next blog update, due May 3rd.

That's right people. 7 Subjects, and an average of 3 assignments per subject, leading up to a grand total of 21 assignments.

I think this pretty much explains my lack of blog posts this month. I'm slowly slowly grinding through the assigments though.. So hopefully I'll finish all of them on time. Good news is, one of the assignments is a research project on "Social Networking" ( It was free topic so i chose that)..

The reason?

I can now chat, skype, facebook and blog, and i'll actually be researching for my assignment. LOL.. How awesome is that..

Not awesome enough! That's how!

Just finished an essay. Now for the next one. I'll also be at school all day on Saturday to finish our group assignments (filming).. Wish me luck =S

Yeah anyway, I've been coughing for the past month. Can't seem to recover, although I am altering my eating habits. (Almost no soft drinks, less sweets and fried stuff.. and now no cold drinks and nothing sweet.. lol.. and drinking lots of juice and eating lots of fruits) But still, to no avail.

Oh well, i'm used to it already. Would be nice if it could stop though.. so.. pray for me, will ya?

Spent most of the day watching Danny Phantom save the world. And chatting with friends, both old and new. The day was kinda productive in some areas, and kinda unproductive in others. I have this funny feeling inside me now, and I don't know what it is. It's kinda like...

Well, today's test went surprisingly well (considering that my eyelids weighed a ton!! seriously, i felt like dozing off right then and there.. even when the teacher was looking =='' )

Good news is.. I'm actually quite confident about this test. Much more than i was about the one yesterday, which I thought i would do better at.. Oh well, life's funny like that..

Oh ya, and i'm gonna be borrowing a camera, tripod, and boom mic to shoot a short film next week.. probably gonna enter it in a competition. If I actually can finish filming it before the deadline (next sunday, lol, only got the email today.. it was in the junk folder ''_ )

So, life's looking up again. Still got this cough and my inner clock is still rather disorganized.. but we're working things out.. stay tuned for updates =)

Me as a hip hop celebrity.

If i was a celebrity, I would have reserved parking spots in front of the best restaurants and clubs. At parties, I would have valets waiting to take my car the moment I arrive. I would of course be driving a Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss (Limited Edition).

I wouldn't want a chauffeur because I prefer to drive to places myself.

My music instrument (guitar) of choice would be a PR5-E (Epiphone) for home use and an Elitist Casino (customized with an Ebony finish, silver pickguard, also Epiphone) for the stage.

As for bodyguards, I would prefer them to be ninjas, or failing that, ex-Navy Seals. They would be totally discreet, not making their presence known unless required, and would follow my orders without question.

Haircut!

Gosh, it's been two months since I last cut my hair. Was beginning to look like I had a ball on my head.. lol.. So I tried out this new hairdresser's at the Giant near where I live (refer to the picture above).

Turned out to be one of the better choices I have made this week. The haridresser is a really cool guy, and having my haircut there turned out to be an impromptu chinese lesson as well, since he could only speak chinese (and as you know, it's boring to sit there without talking, so we did talk, alot) He didn't mind the fact that i had to think hard before each sentence, and he gave me some good advice about hair-styling. So in return, i've decided to feature his shop on my blog.

Yesterday was Jason's Birthday.

This is what we did...

Met up with him around 10pm. He was having shrimp at Bubba Gump's, so we headed to Wong Kok Char Chan Teng (Sunway Pyramid) to wait for him. As we were ordering our food, Tim found this offer at the back of the menu.

Ok, anyway, we waited till Jason and Pauline arrived then we placed our order for the big drink. Dinner was fun, with lots of jokes and laughter, especially from Timothy Chung.

The evening wasn't a complete failure in terms of pictures, though. I managed to capture a few shots of Birthday Boy, Birthday Drink, and Birthday Cake (from previous day)...

By the way, Jason paid for our dinner, even though it was his birthday. What an awesome fellow..

After dinner, we headed to TGV to catch "Watchmen".

For those of you who haven't watched it yet, let me just say this.. Be prepared for something really deep. Actionwise, this movie is also pretty gory. Not one for the kids. But for anyone who loves bean juice, conspiracies and blue, fully naked demi-gods, this is the show for you!!

Recently however, i've learned a new meaning to the word "handicap". Check this out.

Well well, another year has passed... and what a year it was..

Many things have happened this year. I've done many things that i regret doing, but then i've learned some lessons from them too.. And of course, I have many things to be thankful for.. here's a short list of some things i can think of right now..

1. I'm still alive!

2. I've blogged!
3. I'm finally studying in KL. took me long enough...
4. I've made many new friends, and restored friendship with a few old ones =)

that's not all... but these are a few that are relevant to my blog..

Oh ya, and i've tried Bak Kut Teh (is that how u spell it?)

Hmm, I've been thinking..

should i come up with a new year's resolution? Coz every year i come up with one, but only end up achieving 1 in 10 of the stuff i list down.. but, then again, i suppose even 1 is an achievement. So yes, i will do so.. might even post the list up on my blog..

On second thoughts.. if i do so, and fail to complete some.. think of the humiliation!! haha.. I love 2nd thoughts, don't u?

One more thing, i was thinking of talking to a certain someone abt a certain something, but now i don't feel like it anymore.. feel like it will be a waste of my time.. let me ask u.. should i just talk to her?

A Big CONGRATS to my dear sister Sarah for passing her driving test! She is now an officially licensed driver..

That means now she can occasionally drive me places.. yay! =)

That means she can drive my brother places... yay! =))

By the way, sorry for not updating for such a long time.. been so busy preparing for Christmas.. Especially gaya street... We're opening a stall there so please feel free to come and support us from the 17th to 19th of this month... Buy our cookies.. buy our brownies.. and buy our drinks xD

Yeah, my belated "i'm back" post is finally up. Sorry for the long wait...

So, i've been back in Kota Kinabalu for more than a week now.. The feeling is great, simply because:

1. No need to cook. And home food is simply the best =)
2. No need to wash. And ironing is done too... heaven! (F.Y.I. I rarely believe in ironing clothes)
3. No need to ~~wake up early.~~

yeah basically that's all there is...

haha no that's not all there is.. of course i'm happy to be back among familiar faces, yam cha and lepak all day long... attending service and youth which i have missed... seeing how all the kids have grown up (aawwwww) but seriously, it's great to be back. Life here is much more relaxed compared to KL lifestyle. For example, no need to leave so early to get to places, especially church... I tell you, i was so shocked when i drove down to church first time i got back... I was like, ~lalala~, and then, WHOOAA! i'm in church edi.. only took me 2 minutes!

And seriously, I can't get over the food!! i've been eating well since the first day i've been back... not that we don't have food to eat in KL but.. yeah.. anyway, there's loads and LOADS more food here =) hehehe...
